Cupcakes with Cake Boy

Yum, yum Cupcakes! Went to London yesterday to have an afternoon decorating cupcakes with Cake Boy - Eric Lanlard. The afternoon was a christmas gift. These (above) are the cupcakes I decorated.

The afternoon started with making the icing embellishments. These were made with petal paste and moulds. They were then decorated with paste food colouring and glitter.

The cupcakes had been baked for us. There were four different flavours - vanilla, chocolate, lemon and red velvet. I decorated with cupcakes with pink, green and chocolate cream cheese frosting before adding the glitter embellishments. Then came the best bit, eating them! YUM, YUM!!!!

Cake and flowers

No card from me today but I wanted to share a couple of other items with you that I have made. I made a Valentine cake today. It's a vanilla sponge which I covered with fondant icing. I also cut the hearts from fondant icing which I coloured with red food colouring.I was pleased with my icing along the bottom as I'm still just learning.

My second item is a flower which I cut with a new Cricut cartridge called Flower Shoppe. I cut all the layers from different colours of card before attaching them together with wet glue. I added a yellow sticker gem to the centre.

My first attempt at cake decorating

No this isn't a card. It's a cake! It is my first attempt at cake decorating. As I am at home more now I have got hooked on watching 'Ace of Cakes' on Food Network. They make some amazing cakes.

I wanted to have a go myself at cake decorating. So today I made this mini 4" sponge which I icing with white fondant and decorated with marzipan flowers which I made with a Blossom Sugar Art die. I piped the green buttercream swirls for the flowers to sit on and also around the edges. I am very pleased with my first attempt but it was a lot hard to do that it looks on tv!
