Beautiful Butterflies

I have three items to share with you today using a selection of lovely new stamps from Hobby Art. These were samples I made for this weeks show on Create and Craft.

The new Hobby Art stamps sets I used were Butterflies, Script Wording, Silhouette Grasses and Alphabet-typed.

My first items today is a card. I have used a brown colour scheme. This card could be used for both men and ladies. The card blank I used is a 148x148mm Elegance card blank from Craftwork Cards.

The main centre panel shape was the centre piece I popped out from my tunnel card sample (see next card sample). I used Walnut Stain and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks to add colour to the panel first. I then stamping the images onto it using the same inks. I lightly stamped the Script first then Grasses over the top. I then stamped the Typed letter and lastly the butterflies. I used the Walnut Stain Distress Ink to colour the butterfly. To do this I stamped the ink pad onto an acrylic block and then added a little water so I could use the ink as a paint.

Before adding to the card blank I added a strip of ribbon across the card. To finish the card I added faux stitching, a brown faux pearl and a bow.

For my second card I used a Craftwork Cards Tunnel card blank. I cut a piece of smooth white card the same size as the background and coloured it with Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky Distress Ink pads. I then stamped the Grasses stamp along the bottom in Forest Moss Distress ink and the butterfly silhouettes in Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad.

I stamped the butterflies using a Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad onto smooth white card and coloured with Copics. I cut out all the Butterflies. I also stamped the sentiment which is included in the Butterflies stamp set.

I attached the butterflies and sentiment to the card blank. To the bodies of the butterflies I added brown Dimension Pearls. I also added black dots with a fineliner. To finish I highlighted areas with the Clear and Gold Wink of Stella brush pens.

For my final items I decorated an MDF heart. To start I covered the heart with Gesso. Once dry I added Inky Pool, Beach Hut and Bora Bora PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints for the blue background.

I stamped the grasses next with Fern Green and the lettering with Jet Black Archival ink pad. I highlighted areas of the grass with the Clear and Gold Wink of Stella brush pens. I stamped the butterflies with Jet Black Archival ink pad. I coloured them with Gold and Pink Wink of Stella brush pens. I attached just the body section to the heart so the wings would stand out. To finish I added Dimension Pearls to the butterflies bodies.

Don't eat the daisies

I have a wall hanging to share with you all today. My inspiration for this project came from Clare Lloyd's Tuesday post on the PaperArtsy blog titled 'Sentimental'. I have used different colours and stamps from Clare I have kept the basics the same - the background technique, a flower and a sentiment. I am entering this project in PaperArtsy blog's weekly challenge.

To make this project I followed the steps on Clare's blog post. To start I covered a small paper Marché wall hanging with Gesso. Once dry I added a layer of Bora Bora Fresco Finish paint.  Once this was dry I stamped sentiments from Jofy Collections - 12 and 14 using a Jet Black Archival ink pad. Onto this I them stencil Grunge Paste through a stencil. The stencil I used was Mini Grandma's Doily from The Crafters Workshop.

Once the Grunge Paste was dry I added a layer of Beach Hut Fresco Finish paint.

I stamped the flower from Jofy collection 12 twice onto smooth white card with a Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad. I coloured the stamp images with Copics - YG63, YG67, Y06 and Y08. I cut out one complete image. I then cut out just the flower heads from the second image and added them with foam pads to the complete image, as shown below.

I stamped a sentiment also from Jofy collection 12 onto white card. Following Clare's project I also stamped words on to the black card layer.

I added the sentiment to the wall hanging first and then the flowers so the edge of the flower slightly overlapped the sentiment. To finish I added Glossy Accents to the yellow flower centre and a little Star Dust Stickles to the flowers.

Craft Stamper blog challenge

A new 'Take It Make It' blog challenge has started today on the Craft Stamper magazine blog. The theme for April's challenge is Bottles.

This is my DT card for the challenge. The stamp set I used for the flowers and sentiment is Floral Sketch from Hobby Art. The chipboard jar is from The Artistic Stamper.

To make this card I stamped by stamping the flowers onto thick white card. I used Mustard Seed, Aged Mahoney, Barn Door, Fired Brick and Tattered Rose Distress Ink pads. I also used the same inks pads to colour-in the flowers. To do this I stamped the ink pads onto an acrylic block and added a little water. I then used the ink as a paint. I then cut out each flower.

I coloured a chipboard jar with Frayed Burlap Distress Paint. I added a darker edge with Frayed Burlap and Walnut Stain Distress ink pad. Once dry I added some details with a pencil. The chipboard jar is from The Artistic Stamper. I stamped the sentiment from the Floral Sketch stamp set onto white card. I cut out the sentiment into a tag shape. I added the tag to the jar with red ribbon.

I attached a torn-edge panel of white card to a DL kraft card blank. I added black dots around the edge with a fineliner. I added the jar to the card. I used a Forest Moss Distress marker to draw in the flower stems. I added the flowers with foam pads. To finish I added brown Cosmic Shimmer PVA to the centre of the flowers.

Candi love

Candi Love week is still continuing on Craftwork Cards blog today. Today's blog post features cards by DT members.

These are two cards I made. The Candi is used is called Patchwork.

For my first card I used a 148x148mm scallop edge card blank. I attached four rows of Patchwork Candi with Candi Fix foam pads. Finally I added a die cut Birthday sentiment.

For my second cards I used a 119x119mm white card blank. I created three flower heads with Patchwork Candi. Again I used Candi Fox foam pads to attached the Candi. I stamped the sentiment onto the card with Tuxedo Black Memento ink pad.

I added the black faux stitching with a black fineliner. To finish the card I added Glossy Accents to the yellow Candi.
